Genmaicha
History tells us that Genmaicha was discovered in 15th century Japan, known as Koyo. The name comes from a combination of the words "Genmai" - roasted rice and "Cha" - tea.
Traditionally the tea was created using Bancha, which is a green tea from a later harvest that is more affordable. Today it is made from more premium teas such as Sencha and other varieties. The rice and tea chosen are often combined at a ratio 1:1, but this can vary.
