Lemongrass

In Jamaica, we call this plant "fever grass." Its scientific name is "Cymbopogon." This tea tastes slightly citrusy and gives you a lemony, refreshing feeling. Lemongrass is tall grass and grows wild.

Lemongrass is famous for relieving pain and reducing swelling, improving blood sugar and cholesterol levels, stimulating the uterus and menstrual flow, and having antioxidant properties. In Jamaica, Lemongrass is used to treat colds and fevers, but historically, it is also used to boost immunity and promote sleep.

Other names used to identify Lemongrass are barbed wire grass, silky heads, Cochin grass, or Malabar grass.
