Mugicha
Also known as roasted barley tea, almost tastes like coffee without the caffeine. It has a hint of bitterness, making it an acquired taste for novice tea drinkers. In japan it is served cold and enjoyed mostly in the summer.
Mugicha was a favorite amongst members of the Japanese aristocracy throughout the Heian era. It was used to make an alcoholic beverage resembling sake or as a coffee substitute.
