Purple Tea | Ye Sheng
When purple tea was found growing naturally in the Assam region of India, it was admired and brought to Kenya for study and subsequently manufactured.
Kenya Purple Tea is a relatively new type of tea that is only grown in Kenya at high elevations. It takes the plant 5 years to grow to full maturity. The purple color comes from the same botanical chemical that gives blueberries their purple hue. The term "purple" describes the light purple tint of the tea leaves, not the color of the beverage.
